Official Aggravation Rules

Aggravation is a fun and sometimes frustrating board game for 2-6 players (ideally 4-6 for the best experience). It combines elements of racing your marbles around the board with strategically knocking your opponents back to the starting point. Here's a breakdown of the rules:

Objective: Be the first player to move all four of your marbles completely around the track and into your home area.

Components:

  • Game board with a circular track and designated starting and home areas for each player (colors may vary).

  • Marbles (usually 4 per player, each in a distinct color)

  • Die (sometimes a six-sided die, other versions might have additional features)

Setup:

  1. Choose Your Color: Each player selects a color and takes the corresponding four marbles.

  2. Starting Positions: Place your four marbles in the designated starting spaces for your chosen color on the board.

  3. Who Goes First: Decide who goes first by rolling the die highest roller wins, or you can play a quick round of another game to determine the starting player.

Gameplay:

  • Taking a Turn: On your turn, roll the die.

  • Moving Your Marble: Based on the die roll, move one of your marbles the corresponding number of spaces forward along the track in the direction indicated by the arrows.

  • Exact Count: If your die roll exactly matches the number of spaces needed to reach your home area, you can move your marble directly into your home. Otherwise, your marble stays on the last space you landed on the track.

Aggravation:

  • Landing on an Opponent: If you land on a space occupied by an opponent's marble, you "aggravate" them! Their marble gets sent back to their starting area, and they must start over on their next turn.

  • Safe Zones:  Marbles cannot be aggravated while they are in their starting area or their home area.

Multiple Rolls (Optional Rule):

  • Some versions of Aggravation might allow a player who rolls a 6 to take another turn immediately. This can add an element of luck and speed to the game.

Winning the Game:

  • The first player to successfully move all four of their marbles completely around the track and into their home area wins the game!

Additional Notes:

  • Aggravation can be a bit cutthroat, so be prepared for some friendly competition (and potential aggravation) from your fellow players.

  • The game is simple to learn but can be quite strategic, especially with planning your moves to maximize your chances of landing on opponents' marbles.

  • Some versions of the game might have additional rules or variations, so be sure to check the specific instructions for your game set.

Get ready to race, aggravate, and maybe win the game!
