Official CMYK Wavelength party Game Rules

CMYK Wavelength is a cooperative board game where players work together to recreate a target color using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) translucent tiles. Here are the rules:

Objective:

The goal is to collaborate and accurately mix cyan, magenta, yellow, and black colors to match the target color specified on the challenge card.

Components:

  • CMYK Tiles: Translucent cyan, magenta, yellow, and black tiles representing the color components.

  • Challenge Cards: Cards that display target colors for players to replicate.

  • Player Reference Cards: Cards with color mixing guidelines and rules.

  • Timer: Optionally, a timer can be used to add urgency to the game.

Setup:

  1. Shuffle the challenge cards and place them face down in a stack.

  2. Each player takes a set of CMYK tiles and a player reference card.

  3. Choose a starting player.

Gameplay:

  1. Reveal a Challenge Card: The starting player flips the top challenge card and places it face up for all players to see.

  2. Color Mixing: Players discuss and decide how to mix their CMYK tiles to match the target color shown on the challenge card.

  3. Placing Tiles: Players take turns placing their CMYK tiles on the board to create the target color.

  4. Verification: Once all players agree on the color mixture, the starting player reveals the solution on the challenge card to verify if the target color is correctly recreated.

  5. Success or Failure:

    • If the target color is accurately reproduced, the team successfully completes the challenge card and moves on to the next one.

    • If the color does not match the target, the team fails the challenge card, and they may lose a chance to complete the game successfully.

  6. Progression: Repeat steps 1-5 with new challenge cards until the players complete a predetermined number of challenge cards or complete the entire stack.

  7. Winning: The players win the game if they successfully complete all challenge cards within the allotted time or attempts.

Tips:

  • Communicate effectively with your team to discuss color mixing strategies and ensure everyone understands the target color.

  • Pay attention to the subtleties of color mixing, as small adjustments can significantly impact the final result.

  • Use your player reference card as a guide for understanding color mixing principles and rules.

Variants:

  • Difficulty Levels: Adjust the difficulty by using challenge cards with different complexity levels or by reducing the number of attempts allowed.

  • Team Size: Experiment with different team sizes to accommodate varying player counts and preferences.

  • Timer Challenges: Introduce a timer to add pressure and excitement to the game, challenging players to work quickly and efficiently.

CMYK Wavelength offers a unique cooperative experience that tests players' color perception and communication skills. Work together to mix the perfect colors and conquer the challenges that lie ahead!
