Objective
Be the first player to connect four of your colored discs in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Components
A vertical grid with 7 columns and 6 rows
21 red discs
21 yellow discs
Setup
Place the Grid: Stand the grid up between the two players.
Choose Colors: Decide which player will use the red discs and which will use the yellow discs.
Determine First Player: Decide who goes first by any chosen method (e.g., coin toss).
Gameplay
Taking Turns: Players alternate turns, starting with the player who was chosen to go first.
Dropping Discs: On a player's turn, they choose a column in which to drop one of their colored discs.
The disc will occupy the lowest available space within the chosen column.
Winning the Game: The game continues until one player connects four of their discs in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
If a player successfully connects four discs, they win the game immediately.
Draw: If all 42 spaces in the grid are filled without any player connecting four, the game is a draw.
Ending the Game
Winning: A player wins by connecting four of their discs in a row.
Draw: If the grid is completely filled with no four-in-a-row connection, the game ends in a draw.
Strategy Tips
Plan Ahead: Think several moves ahead to anticipate your opponent's strategy and block their attempts to connect four.
Center Control: Aim to control the center columns, as they provide more opportunities for forming connections.
Defensive Play: Be vigilant and ready to block your opponent's attempts to connect four, especially as the grid fills up.
Double Threats: Try to create situations where you have two potential ways to win on your next turn, making it difficult for your opponent to block both.
Connect 4 is a simple yet strategic game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages. With practice and strategic thinking, you can improve your chances of outwitting your opponent and connecting four!
