Outsmarted is a trivia game that challenges players to answer questions from various categories while strategically choosing which questions to answer. Here are the basic rules:

Game Components:

  • Question Cards: A deck of cards with trivia questions from different categories.

  • Game Board: A board to track players' progress and scores.

  • Player Tokens: Tokens or pieces to represent each player on the game board.

  • Timer: A timer to set the duration of each round.

Setup:

  1. Board Setup: Place the game board in the center of the play area.

  2. Token Placement: Each player selects a token and places it on the "Start" space of the game board.

Objective:

  • The goal of Outsmarted is to be the first player to reach the finish line on the game board by correctly answering trivia questions.

Gameplay:

  1. Turn Sequence: Players take turns in clockwise order.

  2. Category Selection: On their turn, a player selects a category from the game board and moves their token to the corresponding space.

  3. Question Drawing: The player draws a question card from the deck corresponding to the selected category and reads the question aloud.

  4. Answering: The player has a set amount of time (determined by the timer) to answer the question.

  5. Scoring: If the player answers the question correctly within the time limit, they advance their token on the game board. If they answer incorrectly or run out of time, they remain on the same space.

  6. Repeat: Players take turns selecting categories, drawing question cards, and answering questions until one player reaches the finish line.

End of Game:

  • The game ends immediately when one player successfully moves their token to the finish line on the game board. That player is declared the winner.

Variations:

  • Team Play: Players can form teams and work together to answer questions and advance their tokens.

  • Difficulty Levels: Adjust the difficulty of questions based on the players' preferences or skill levels.

Strategy:

  • Category Selection: Choose categories that play to your strengths and knowledge.

  • Time Management: Use the timer wisely to ensure you have enough time to answer each question.

  • Risk Assessment: Consider the difficulty of each question before attempting to answer, as incorrect answers may hinder your progress on the game board.
