Password is a classic game that tests communication and deduction skills. Here's how to play:
Objective: The goal of the game is to guess the "password" (a secret word) using one-word clues provided by teammates.
Components:
Password word cards
Score pad
Pencil
Timer (optional)
Setup:
Divide players into two teams.
Select one player from each team to be the "clue giver" for the first round.
The two clue givers sit next to each other, with the rest of their team members seated across from them.
One player draws a word card without revealing it to anyone else.
Gameplay:
The clue givers look at the word on the card.
Each clue giver must provide a one-word clue to their team to help them guess the password.
Clues must be single words and cannot be hyphenated, a proper noun, or a part of the password.
Clues should not rhyme with the password or be an abbreviation of the password.
The team members take turns guessing the password based on the clues provided by the clue giver.
The team gets only one guess per clue.
If the guess is incorrect, the opposing team's clue giver provides another one-word clue to their team.
Play alternates between teams until the password is guessed correctly or until a set number of clues (usually 10) have been given.
The team that guesses the password correctly earns points based on how many clues it took:
1st clue: 10 points
2nd clue: 9 points
3rd clue: 8 points
4th clue: 7 points
5th clue: 6 points
6th clue: 5 points
7th clue: 4 points
8th clue: 3 points
9th clue: 2 points
10th clue: 1 point
After the password is guessed, the next round begins with new clue givers from each team.
The game continues until all players have had a chance to be clue givers or a predetermined number of rounds have been played.
Winning the Game:
The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Variations:
Timer Variation: Use a timer to limit the amount of time each team has to provide a clue and guess the password.
Penalty Points: Deduct points for illegal clues or if a clue giver inadvertently reveals the password.
Strategy Tips:
Clue Givers: Think of words that have a clear and strong association with the password without being too obvious or vague.
Guessers: Pay attention to all previous clues and try to think of words that could fit the pattern or theme suggested by the clues.
Password is a fun and competitive game that challenges players to think creatively and communicate effectively.
