Yinsh is an abstract strategy game designed by Kris Burm and published by Rio Grande Games. Here's how to play:
Objective
The objective of Yinsh is to be the first player to remove three of your rings from the board. You achieve this by forming lines of five markers in your color.
Setup
Each player has five rings and an equal number of black and white markers.
The board is a hexagonal grid with intersections for the rings and markers.
Players alternate placing their rings on empty intersections until all ten rings are on the board.
Gameplay
Placing a Marker and Moving a Ring:
On your turn, place a marker of your color (black or white) inside one of your rings.
Move that ring in a straight line to an empty intersection. The ring can move any distance but cannot jump over other rings or markers.
Flipping Markers:
Any markers that the moving ring jumps over are flipped to the opposite color. This happens for all markers in the path of the ring's movement.
Forming Lines and Removing Rings:
If you form a continuous line of five markers of your color (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), you remove those five markers from the board.
After removing the markers, you must remove one of your rings from the board as a point.
Winning the Game:
The first player to remove three of their rings from the board wins the game.
Additional Rules
Markers: Both players share the same markers, flipping them to their color as needed.
Movement Restrictions: Rings cannot move over other rings or off the edge of the board.
Strategy Tips
Plan your moves to set up multiple lines of five markers.
Anticipate your opponent's moves and try to block them.
Use your rings strategically to control important areas of the board.
Yinsh is a game of skill and strategy, requiring players to think ahead and adapt to changing situations on the board. Enjoy your game!
