Official Relative Insanity Rules

Relative Insanity is a hilarious party game that tests your creativity and wit. It's a perfect choice for bringing laughter and lighthearted competition to your next gathering. Here's a breakdown of the rules:

Objective

Become the funniest comedian! Earn points by providing the punchline that best completes the setup card and tickles the judge's funny bone.

Setup

1. Shuffle both the setup and punchline decks.

2. Deal 7 punchline cards to each player.

3. Place the setup card deck face down in the center of the play area.

4. Choose a player to be the first Judge.

Gameplay

  1. Judge's Role:

    • The Judge draws a setup card and reads it out loud. The setup card will have a sentence with a blank or an incomplete phrase that needs a funny punchline.

  2. Submitting Punchlines:

    • Each player (except the Judge) chooses one punchline card from their hand that they think will make the setup card the funniest and places it face down in front of the Judge.

    • The Judge shuffles the submitted punchline cards to ensure anonymity.

  3. Reading Punchlines:

    • The Judge reads all the punchline cards out loud and then selects the funniest one based on their own sense of humor.

  4. Scoring:

    • The player whose punchline card was chosen by the Judge earns 1 point.

    • The Judge role rotates to the next player clockwise.

  5. Drawing New Cards:

    • Each player draws back up to 7 punchline cards from the punchline deck.

    • Play continues with the new Judge drawing a new setup card and repeating the process.

Winning the Game

  • The game can be played until a certain number of rounds are completed or until a player reaches a predetermined number of points (decided before starting the game).

  • The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Notes/Strategy

  • If players run out of punchline cards, shuffle the discard pile to create a new draw deck.

  • Players can play multiple rounds and keep a cumulative score if desired.

  • Use punchline cards that best match the sense of humor of the current Judge.

  • Pay attention to which types of punchlines have been successful in previous rounds.

  • Remember to keep your own style and have fun!

With a little creativity and these rules in mind, you're all set to unleash the laughter with a game of Relative Insanity!
