Official Joking Hazard Rules

Joking Hazard is a party game designed to create funny and absurd comic strips through a combination of randomness and player creativity. Here's how to play:

Objective

Compete with your friends to create the funniest three-panel comic strip using the Joking Hazard cards.

Number of Players: 3 or more players

Components:

  • Deck of Joking Hazard cards: Contains various panels with images and text prompts.

  • Drawing implement (pen, pencil)

  • Paper (optional, some versions come with pads)

Setup

1. Shuffle the deck of Joking Hazard cards.

2. Each player draws 7 cards from the deck to form their initial hand.

Gameplay

1. Start Panel: The game begins with a start panel, which is drawn from the top of the deck and placed in the center of the table, face-up.

2. Turn Structure:

  • On your turn, you choose a card from your hand to play as the next panel in the comic strip.

  • You add your panel to either the left or right side of the start panel to continue the comic strip.

  • Once you've added your panel, the player to your left chooses a card from their hand to add to the comic strip, continuing clockwise.

3. Creating the Comic Strip:

  • The goal is to create a three-panel comic strip with the funniest, most coherent storyline possible.

  • Players can interpret the cards creatively to form a storyline that makes sense or is hilariously absurd.

  • Players can also play cards to disrupt the flow of the comic or add unexpected twists.

4. Voting:

  • After the third panel is played, players vote on which comic strip they think is the funniest.

  • Players cannot vote for their own comic strip.

  • The player whose comic strip receives the most votes wins the round.

5. Scoring:

  • The player who wins the round keeps the three panels used to create the comic strip as a point.

  • The start panel for the next round is drawn from the deck, and players replenish their hands to 7 cards.

Winning the Game

  • The game continues until a player reaches a predetermined number of points, typically 3-5, depending on the length of game desired. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Notes/Variations

Special Cards

  • Some cards have special effects or instructions that can add humor or alter the gameplay in various ways.

House Rules

  • Players can create house rules to add more complexity or creativity to the game, such as requiring players to speak in character voices or act out the scenes as they play their cards.

That's the basic gameplay of Joking Hazard! It's a game that encourages creativity, humor, and quick thinking as players craft their own comic strips. Enjoy the laughter and absurdity!
