Basketball is a team sport involving two teams of five players each who try to score points by shooting a ball through a hoop. Here are the basic rules!
Basic Rules:
Objective: Score more points than the opposing team by shooting the ball through the hoop.
Gameplay: Teams alternate possessions, attempting to advance the ball up the court and score.
Scoring: A field goal is worth two points, while a shot made from beyond the three-point line is worth three points.
Fouls: Players are allowed a certain number of fouls before being disqualified. Free throws are awarded for fouls committed against a player in the act of shooting.
Time: Games are divided into quarters with short breaks between them.
Key Elements:
Passing: Players move the ball up the court by passing to teammates.
Dribbling: Players can advance the ball by bouncing it on the floor.
Shooting: Players attempt to score points by shooting the ball through the hoop.
Defense: Players try to prevent the opposing team from scoring by stealing the ball, blocking shots, and guarding opponents.
Rebounding: Players attempt to gain possession of the ball after a missed shot.
