Stare Junior is a memory and observation game designed for children ages 6 and up. It's a fun way to train their visual memory skills and have a laugh along the way! Here's a breakdown of the rules:

Number of Players: 2-4 players

Components:

  • Game board (optional, some versions may not have one)

  • Stack of image cards featuring funny illustrations, photos, comics, or animations

  • Die with numbers and special symbols (may vary depending on version)

  • Playing pieces for each player (pawns, tokens, etc.)

Objective: Be the first player to reach the finish space on the game board (or collect a certain number of points depending on the version) by correctly answering questions about the images on the cards.

Setup:

  1. Shuffle the Image Cards: Shuffle the stack of image cards face down and place them within reach of all players.

  2. Board Setup (Optional): If playing with a game board, place each player's playing piece on the starting space.

  3. Die and Timer (Optional): If your version includes a die and timer, have them readily available.

Gameplay:

The game is played in turns, with the youngest player starting. Turns proceed clockwise.

On Your Turn:

  1. Roll the Die (Optional):  In some versions, you might roll a die to determine how long you get to look at the image card. If no die is included, simply agree on a reasonable viewing time (around 30 seconds).

  2. Flip and Stare: The next player in line flips the top card from the image card stack face up, revealing the image. Everyone concentrates on memorizing the details of the image for the designated time (from the die roll or agreed time).

  3. Discard the Card: After the viewing time is up, the card is flipped face down and discarded (or placed in a separate "seen" pile depending on the version).

  4. Ask the Question: The player who flipped the card rolls the die (or uses another question-determining method as per your version) to see what question they will ask about the image. The question might be about:

    • Color: "What color is the hat the boy is wearing?"

    • Object: "How many flowers are in the vase?"

    • Detail: "Is the cat sitting on the table or the chair?"

    • Position: "Who is standing to the left of the tree?" (questions may vary depending on the specific image)

  5. Answer Time: The player who just stared at the image tries to answer the question correctly.

Earning Points/Moving Forward:

  • Correct Answer: If the player answers the question correctly, they earn a point (or move their playing piece forward one space on the board depending on the version).

  • Incorrect Answer: If the player answers incorrectly, the turn moves on to the next player with no penalty (or they might lose a turn depending on the version).

Winning the Game:

  • The first player to reach a certain number of points (or the first player's piece to reach the finish space on the board) is the winner!

Additional Notes:

  • Stare Junior is a lighthearted game that encourages focus and memory skills.

  • Feel free to adjust the viewing time or difficulty of questions based on the age and experience of the players.

  • You can also create your own silly questions to add to the fun!
