Throw Throw Avocado! is a hilarious and fast-paced dodgeball-inspired card game from the creators of Exploding Kittens. It's all about collecting matching cards, battling your opponents with squishy avocado projectiles, and avoiding getting hit to stay in the game.

Number of Players: 2-6 players

Objective: Be the last player remaining by collecting sets of matching cards and dodging thrown avocados.

Components:

  • Deck of Throw Throw Avocado cards (featuring different types of avocados and action cards)

  • 2 Squishy Avocado projectiles (made of safe, soft foam)

Setup:

  1. Shuffle the Deck: Mix all the Throw Throw Avocado cards face down on a table.

  2. Deal the Cards: Evenly distribute cards to each player, dealing them face down. The remaining deck is placed face down in the center of the playing area as a draw pile.

  3. Place the Avocados: Put the two squishy avocado projectiles in a designated throwing area within easy reach of all players.

Gameplay:

Throw Throw Avocado! combines card collecting with hilarious avocado battles. Here's how the fun unfolds:

  • Turns and Drawing Cards: Players take turns drawing a card from the deck and adding it to their hand, keeping their cards hidden from others.

  • Collecting Sets: The goal is to collect sets of three matching avocado cards (e.g., three Guacamoles, three Pits). Once you have a set, you can immediately discard it face up to the discard pile. You can also discard any unwanted cards face down to the discard pile during your turn.

Avocado Action Cards:

The deck includes special avocado action cards that add twists to the gameplay:

  • Avocado Dodge: Play this card on your turn to declare yourself immune to being hit by thrown avocados during the next round.

  • Fowl Play: Play this card on another player to force them to draw two additional cards from the deck. This can slow them down in their quest to collect sets.

  • Guacamole: This card allows you to initiate a "Guacamole Fight" with another player. Both players grab an avocado and throw them at each other simultaneously! The first player hit is out. (More on Guacamole Fights below)

Guacamole Fights:

  • When a player throws a Guacamole card at another player, a "Guacamole Fight" is declared.

  • Both players involved in the fight grab an avocado and throw them at each other simultaneously. There are no turns or specific throwing techniques – it's a free-for-all!

  • The first player hit by an avocado is out of the game and discards their entire hand.

  • Safety Note: Remember to throw the avocados underhand and aim for the body or arms, avoiding heads and faces.

End of Game:

The game continues with players drawing cards, collecting sets, and throwing avocados (or dodging them) until only one player remains. This player is declared the Throw Throw Avocado champion!

Winning the Game:

The last player standing, after others have been eliminated through collected sets, discarded cards, or being hit by avocados, wins the game and earns bragging rights as the ultimate avocado dodger!

Variations:

  • Team Play (Optional): For larger groups, consider dividing players into teams and playing cooperatively. Work together to collect sets and eliminate players from opposing teams through Guacamole Fights.

Throw Throw Avocado! is a perfect game for bringing laughter, excitement, and a touch of friendly competition to your next game night. It's a simple yet hilarious game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages (with adult supervision for younger players). So, grab your friends, prepare to dodge, and get ready for some squishy avocado action!
