Objective: The objective of the game is to be the first player to play all of your tiles by connecting them to the existing network of rivers, roads, and rails on the table.
Components:
140 tiles depicting segments of rivers, roads, and rails
Instructions
Setup:
Shuffle the tiles and deal 10 tiles to each player.
Place the remaining tiles face down in a draw pile.
Draw one tile from the pile and place it face up in the center of the table. This is the starting tile.
Gameplay:
The player to the left of the dealer starts, and play proceeds clockwise.
On your turn, try to match one of your tiles to the tiles already on the table by aligning the rivers, roads, or rails.
If you can play a tile, place it next to a matching tile on the table, making sure the connections (rivers, roads, rails) align properly.
If you can't play a tile, draw a tile from the draw pile. If you draw a playable tile, you may play it immediately. If not, your turn ends.
Winning the Game:
The first player to play all of their tiles wins the game.
Special Rules:
No Moves Available: If no player can make a move and the draw pile is exhausted, the game ends. The player with the fewest tiles remaining is the winner.
Connecting Tiles: A tile can only be placed if at least one of its sides connects to an existing tile, matching either a river, road, or rail.
Branches and Dead Ends: It's allowed to create branches or dead ends as long as at least one side of the tile connects properly.
Strategies:
Pay attention to your remaining tiles and try to keep options open for your next turn.
Watch other players' tiles and the draw pile to anticipate possible plays.
Try to extend the network in a way that limits your opponents' options.
Grab your tiles and get ready to build a network of roads, rivers, and rails in Rivers, Roads & Rails!
