Objective:
The goal is to accumulate prestige points by acquiring development cards, attracting influential patrons, and building your gemstone empire.
Components:
Gemstone Tokens: Representing different types of gemstones (diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and pearls).
Development Cards: Cards representing mines, transportation, and shops that players can purchase.
Noble Tiles: Tiles representing influential patrons who provide prestige points for meeting specific gemstone requirements.
Player Tokens: Used to track gemstone reserves and prestige points.
Game Board: A central board displaying the available development cards, noble tiles, and gemstone tokens.
Reserved Cards: Cards that players can reserve for future purchase.
Setup:
Place the game board in the center of the playing area.
Shuffle the development cards and create three face-up stacks of four cards each.
Place the noble tiles face-up on the designated spaces on the board.
Place the gemstone tokens in separate piles near the board.
Each player receives:
2 prestige point tokens.
A set of player tokens used to track gemstone reserves.
Determine the starting player.
Gameplay:
On your turn, you may take one of three actions:
Collect Gemstones: Take up to three gemstone tokens of different colors, or two of the same color if there are at least four tokens available.
Reserve a Card: Take one development card from the display and place it face down in front of you, replacing it with a new card from the deck.
Purchase a Card: Spend gemstone tokens to purchase a development card from the display. The cost is indicated on the card.
After taking your action, play passes to the next player clockwise.
Continue taking turns until one player reaches 15 or more prestige points.
Finish the current round so that all players have had an equal number of turns.
The player with the highest prestige points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the fewest development cards wins.
Development Cards:
Mines: Provide gemstone tokens when purchased.
Transportation: Reduce the cost of purchasing future development cards.
Shops: Provide prestige points when purchased.
Prestige Points: Some development cards provide direct prestige points when purchased.
Noble Tiles:
Each noble tile requires a specific combination of gemstones.
If a player meets the requirements, they immediately claim the noble tile and gain the associated prestige points.
Strategies:
Focus on purchasing development cards that provide long-term benefits, such as reduced costs or ongoing gemstone production.
Reserve valuable cards early to prevent opponents from acquiring them and to keep your options open.
Pay attention to the noble tiles and work towards meeting their requirements to gain additional prestige points.
