Official UNO Dare Rules

UNO Dare is a fun twist on the classic UNO game, adding an extra layer of excitement with dares that players must perform. The objective remains the same: be the first player to score 500 points.

Objective

The objective of UNO Dare is to be the first player to score 500 points. Points are scored by being the first to play all of your cards in each round and accumulating points from the cards remaining in your opponents' hands.

Setup

  • Shuffle: Shuffle the deck thoroughly.

  • Deal: Deal 7 cards to each player. Place the rest of the deck face down to form the draw pile.

  • Top Card: Turn over the top card of the draw pile to start the discard pile. If the first card is a Dare card, place it back in the draw pile and draw another card.

Card Types

  • Number Cards: 0-9 in four colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow).

  • Special Cards:Skip: Next player misses their turn.
Reverse: Reverses the direction of play.
Draw Two: Next player draws two cards.
Wild: Choose any color to continue play.
Wild Draw Four: Choose a color and the next player draws four cards.
Dare Cards: Require the next player to either draw two cards or perform a dare.

Gameplay

  1. Starting Play: The player to the left of the dealer starts the game.

  2. Playing Cards:

    • Match a card from your hand to the top card of the discard pile by number, color, or symbol.

    • If you can't match a card, draw a card from the draw pile. If you can play the drawn card, do so immediately; otherwise, keep it.

    • You may play special cards to alter gameplay.

  3. Dare Cards:

    • When a Dare card is played, the next player must choose to either draw two cards or perform a dare.

    • If the player chooses to perform a dare, they draw a Dare card and follow the instructions on the card.

  4. Wild Cards:

    • Wild Card: Allows you to change the color.

    • Wild Draw Four: Allows you to change the color and force the next player to draw four cards.

  5. Calling UNO: When you have one card left, you must shout "UNO." If another player catches you not saying "UNO" before your next turn, you must draw two cards as a penalty.

Ending the Round

  • When a player has no cards left, the round ends. Points are scored based on the cards left in the opponents' hands.

Scoring

  • Points are calculated from the cards left in your opponents' hands:

    • Number cards (0-9): Face value.

    • Skip, Reverse, Draw Two: 20 points each.

    • Wild, Wild Draw Four, Dare: 50 points each.

Winning the Game

  • The first player to reach 500 points wins the game.

Notes/Variations

  • Short Game: Play to a lower point total, such as 200 or 300 points, for a quicker game.

  • House Rules: Create custom dares for added fun.

  • Use Special Cards Strategically: Play Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two cards at key moments.

  • Pay Attention to Dares: Choosing a dare might be better than drawing two cards, depending on the situation.

  • UNO Call: Always remember to call "UNO" when down to one card to avoid penalties.
