Duck, duck, goose is a traditional children's game often first learned in preschool or kindergarten. The game may be later adapted on the playground for early elementary students.
Objective: To be the last person sitting in the circle.
How to Play:
Form a Circle: All players sit in a circle facing inward.
Choose a "Picker": One person is chosen to be the "picker."
Walking the Circle: The picker walks around the outside of the circle, gently tapping each player's head and saying "duck."
Choosing the Goose: The picker continues around the circle until they choose someone to be the "goose." They tap that person's head and say "goose."
The Chase: The player who was tagged "goose" stands up and tries to tag the picker before they can sit down in the empty spot in the circle.
New Picker: If the goose tags the picker, the picker becomes the goose for the next round. If the picker sits down safely, the goose becomes the picker.
Variations:
There are many variations of Duck, Duck, Goose, including:
Number variations: Players can be assigned numbers instead of being tapped, adding a strategic element.
Action variations: Instead of tapping heads, the picker can perform actions like shaking hands, giving high-fives, or doing silly dances.
Theme variations: Incorporate themes like animals, colors, or occupations for added fun.
The key to Duck, Duck, Goose is to have fun and be fast!
