SPUD is a fun and active game for groups of people. It's a game of numbers, speed, and agility. Here's how to play the classic game of SPUD:

How to Play:

  1. Assign Numbers: Each player is assigned a number.

  2. Starting Player: One player starts with the ball.

  3. Throwing the Ball: The player throws the ball in the air and calls out a number.

  4. Run or Catch: Players whose number wasn't called run, while the player whose number was called tries to catch the ball.

  5. Calling "Spud": Once the ball is caught, the player yells "Spud!" and everyone freezes.

  6. Taking Steps: The player with the ball takes three giant steps towards another player.

  7. Throwing the Ball: The player attempts to hit the chosen player with the ball below the waist.

  8. Getting a Letter: If the ball hits the player, they get an "S." If the player catches the ball or the thrower misses, the thrower gets an "S."

  9. Elimination: A player is out after accumulating the letters "S," "P," "U," and "D."

Variations:

  • Ghost Number: If a number is called that doesn't belong to any player, everyone must rush to touch the ball. The last person to touch it gets a letter.

  • Extra Letters: Some variations include additional letters like "E" or "R" for more challenges.

Spud is a great game for kids and adults alike. It's a fun way to get active and spend time with friends. These rules should be enough to get you started!
