How to Play Chicken Challengers
Chicken Challengers Rules Guide
Objective
Chicken Challengers is a turn-based strategic card game full of chaotic chicken antics. Your goal? Be the first to collect 8 Chicken Cards in your hand—but be careful, because other players are racing to do the same!
Game Setup
- Shuffle the entire deck.
- Deal 3 cards face down to each player. Keep hands secret.
- Place the remaining deck in the center of the table to form the draw pile. Leave room for a discard pile.
- Choose a starting player (whoever has the most “C’s” in their name), then proceed clockwise.
Taking Your Turn
On your turn, you must do one of the following actions:
DRAW: Take 1 card from the top of the deck. End your turn.
OR
PLAY: Play 1 card face-up onto the discard pile and follow its instructions. After resolving the effect, your turn ends and play moves to the next player.
Note: You can only play one card per turn unless you are playing Counter Cards, which can be played during anyone’s turn.
Play continues clockwise unless a card effect skips a player.
Remember: Each turn, you must Draw 1 or Play 1.
Card Types
Chicken Cards (Goal Cards):
- Needed to win the game. Collect 8 in hand.
- Each card has a strength (0–9) used in challenges.
Special Chickens (Purple) – 36 Cards:
- Count toward your 8.
- When played: Take any one card from the discard pile.
Normal Chickens (Blue) – 38 Cards:
- Count toward your 8.
- When played: Randomly steal 1 card from another player.
Challenge Cards (Grey) – 11 Cards:
- Target one player. Both players reveal a Chicken Card. Higher strength wins all involved chickens.
- In case of a tie, repeat the challenge with new chickens until resolved.
- If one player runs out of chickens, they lose automatically.
- Winner takes up to 4 chickens. Extras go to the discard pile.
Super Challenge Cards (Black) – 4 Cards:
- All players participate. Reveal a Chicken Card simultaneously.
- Highest strength wins. Ties continue among tied players.
- If countered, no one plays the challenge.
Action Cards (Salmon) – 15 Cards:
- Trigger special effects like stealing or discarding cards.
Counter Cards (Green) – 12 Cards:
- Cancel any card action (even another Counter Card).
- Must be played before the action resolves.
- Played Counter Cards go into the discard pile.
How to Win Chicken Challengers
The first player to hold 8 Chicken Cards (any mix of Normal or Special) during their own turn wins the game.
- If you hit 8 on someone else’s turn, you must wait until your next turn to win.
Extra Rules & Clarifications
- Deck Runs Out? Shuffle the discard pile to create a new draw deck.
- Honesty Rule: If asked to discard/give a specific card type, you may not lie. If you don’t have the card, say so.
- Empty-Handed? Keep playing normally. No hand size limit.
