Objective of the Game

The aim of Farting Frenchies is to collect the highest total point value by gathering dog cards before the game ends. Outwit your opponents with stink cards, block with good smells, and play action cards to shift momentum in your favor.

Setup for 2–3 Players

For a small game, use a curated set of cards:

  • 2 Level 2 Dog Cards
  • 3 Level 3 Dog Cards
  • 6 Level 4 Dog Cards
  • 3 Level 5 Dog Cards
  • 1 End Card
  • All Stink, Good Smell (Diffuse), and Action Cards
  1. Separate and set aside the End Card(s).
  2. Each player starts with a Level 3 Dog Card placed face-up in front of them.
  3. Shuffle the remaining Dog Cards. Split them in half. Shuffle the End Card into the bottom half and place this half under the top half, forming the Dog Card draw pile (face-up).
  4. Shuffle the Playing Cards deck. Deal 4 cards to each player. Place the rest in a facedown draw pile beside the Dog Deck.
  5. The “stinkiest” player goes first (or default to the youngest player).

Gameplay Overview

Each turn, draw one card from the Playing Card deck. Then, choose one of the following actions:

  • Play a stink card on your dog.
  • Place a good smell card on an opponent’s stink card.
  • Use an action card.
  • Discard a card.

Instead of your regular turn, you may discard your entire hand and draw 4 new cards (no draw at the start of that turn).

Playing Stink Cards

To collect a dog card, you must play a number of stink cards equal to the dog’s value. Only stink cards not covered by good smells count. Once matched:

  • Discard the stink cards.
  • Flip the dog card into your score pile.
  • Draw a new Dog Card from the Dog Deck and place it face-up.

Blocking with Good Smell/Diffuse Cards

You can cancel a stink card on another player’s dog by placing a good smell card of matching color over it. This blocks its point value.

Using Action Cards

Action cards provide strategic abilities:

  • Steal Cards (e.g., Dognapper, Bacon Air Biscuits): Steal a dog from another player’s score pile.
  • Toot-a-loo Smells: Discard all good smells on your dog.
  • Fart Blaster: Play 2 additional cards during your turn. Draw up to 4 cards after each.
  • Can’t Resist the Hydrant: Skip the next player’s turn.
  • Just Say NOse: Block an action card played by another player. You can even use it to block another NO card.

Canceling the End Game

  • Old Dog, New Trick: Cancel the End Card when revealed.
  • Cancel the End: Discard the End Card and continue playing. Note: “Just Say NOse” cannot block End or Cancel the End cards.

End of Game

The game ends when the End Card is revealed and no one cancels it. Each player counts the total value of their collected dog cards. The player with the most points wins.

Team Play (VS Mode)

Form teams (max 2 players per team). Each team selects a breed and starts with a Level 3 Dog Card of that breed. You may add one expansion pack per team. Teams can share cards and help each other:

  • Points for your team’s breed = card’s full point value.
  • Points for other breeds = 1 point.
  • Play stink cards on your or your teammate’s dog.

Team with the highest combined score wins.
