Objective:
The goal of the History Channel Trivia Board Game is to answer trivia questions correctly in a variety of categories to advance on the board and collect points. The player with the most points or the first to reach a set finish line wins the game.
Components:
- 1 Game board
- 2400+ General Knowledge Questions (with additional 80s & 90s expansion pack)
- Question Cards (divided into categories)
- 1 Die
- 4 Player Tokens
- 1 Timer
- Answer Sheets or Markers for players
- Rules Booklet
Setup:
- Lay out the game board on a flat surface.
- Divide players into teams or individuals.
- Place each player token at the designated starting space on the board.
- Shuffle the question cards and place them in a draw pile.
- Each player or team should have a set of answer sheets or markers to write their answers on.
- Choose a player to start. Players take turns rolling the die to advance.
Gameplay:
- Rolling and Moving:
- Players take turns rolling the die to move along the board. The number you roll corresponds to the number of spaces you move forward on the board.
- There are different types of spaces: trivia question spaces, special spaces with bonus rounds or challenges, and spaces that allow players to skip ahead or penalize them.
- Answering Questions:
- When a player lands on a trivia question space, another player draws a card and reads a question aloud.
- The questions may range from general knowledge to questions about history, pop culture (including the 80s & 90s), sports, or other themes.
- The player (or team) has a limited amount of time to answer the question (usually 30 seconds).
- If the answer is correct, the player stays on the space and may roll again or get a bonus. If wrong, the player stays on the space without a penalty, but no bonus is earned.
- Bonus Round/Challenges:
- Some spaces will trigger bonus rounds, such as answering multiple questions in a row or guessing the right answer from multiple options.
- Special spaces may also allow you to perform challenges, like trivia about a specific decade (e.g., the 80s & 90s) or answering a particularly difficult question for extra points.
- Winning the Game:
- The game continues until one player or team reaches the final space on the board or scores a set number of points, depending on the game version being played.
- The winner is the player with the highest score or the first to reach the end space, depending on the variant used.
Additional Rules:
- 80s & 90s Expansion Pack:
- These trivia questions will challenge players on their knowledge of pop culture, historical events, and trends from these two decades.
- Players who land on a special 80s/90s space will need to answer a question specifically related to these decades.
- Team Play:
- If playing with teams, members can confer before answering. Teams can strategize by dividing the trivia categories among their players, ensuring each member focuses on a specific subject for better efficiency.
Strategy Tips:
- Pay attention to the special spaces and challenges, as they often provide opportunities for extra points.
- Use your team wisely if playing in groups, as collaboration can help ensure the right answers.
- Make educated guesses in tough spots, especially in bonus rounds!
Enjoy the game, testing your knowledge on general history and 80s & 90s trivia, and may the best trivia master win!
