How to Play Triple Threes!

Overview

  • Players: 2–4 with one deck, 5–8 with two decks
  • Ages: 8+
  • Playtime: 15–60 minutes

Objective

Build three sets of three different colors before your opponents and shout “Triple Threes!” to win the round. Score points from your sets, and the first player to reach 100 points wins the game.

Components

  • 64 cards total:
    • 54 Play Cards (13 color sets, 4 cards each + 2 Wild Cards)
    • 6 Special Cards (Swap, Trade, Show)
    • 4 quick-reference instruction cards

There are also three special card stacks: one with a multicolored "Wild" card, one with a "Gold" card, and one with a "Show" card featuring a hand of cards. The cards are arranged in three horizontal rows and are labeled with text, such as "Green 1," "Orange 2," "Red 3," and so on, up to "Peach 12." The stacks are fanned out slightly to show multiple cards in each group.

Setup

  1. Separate the Play Cards from the Special Cards.
  2. Shuffle the 54 Play Cards and deal 10 cards to each player.
  3. Mix the remaining Play Cards with the 6 Special Cards, shuffle again, and place them face down as the Draw Pile.
  4. Leave space for a Discard Pile.

Gameplay

  • On your turn, draw 1 card from the Draw Pile.
  • Decide whether to:
    • Keep it (swap with a card in your hand and discard the swapped card), or
    • Discard it immediately.
  • Play continues clockwise.

Special Cards

Special Cards must be played immediately when drawn. They cannot be held in your hand.

  • Swap: Trade your entire hand with another player, then continue your turn.
  • Trade: Exchange one card with another player. You choose who, they choose which card.
  • Show: Reveal one card from your hand. Your turn ends immediately.

  • The winner of the round scores their total; all other players score 0.
