Farkle with Friends is a fun and social dice game that combines strategy and luck. Here’s how to play:

Objective

The goal of Farkle with Friends is to score the highest number of points by rolling dice and achieving specific combinations.

Components

  • 6 dice

  • Score pad and pencil

  • Farkle with Friends dice game rules

Setup

  1. Players: The game can be played with 2 or more players.

  2. Score Pad: Each player gets a score pad and a pencil to record scores.

Gameplay

  1. Rolling the Dice:

    • On your turn, roll all six dice.

    • After the first roll, you can set aside dice that you want to keep and re-roll the remaining dice. You may roll up to three times on your turn, setting aside dice each time to keep.

  2. Scoring Combinations:

    • Single 1s: 1s are worth 100 points each.

    • Single 5s: 5s are worth 50 points each.

    • Three of a Kind: If you roll three of the same number (e.g., three 2s), score 100 times the number (e.g., three 2s = 200 points).

    • Four of a Kind: Four of the same number scores 200 times the number.

    • Five of a Kind: Five of the same number scores 1,000 points.

    • Six of a Kind: Six of the same number scores 2,000 points.

    • Three Pairs: Rolling three pairs (e.g., two 2s, two 4s, two 6s) scores 750 points.

    • Straight: Rolling a straight (1 through 6) scores 1,500 points.

  3. Scoring Rules:

    • After rolling and setting aside scoring dice, you may choose to end your turn and record the points from the dice you have set aside, or you can continue rolling the remaining dice.

    • If you roll all six dice and score points with all of them, you can roll all six dice again, adding the points to your current total. This is called a “Farkle.”

  4. Farkle:

    • If you roll the dice and none of them score (i.e., no scoring combinations), you have a “Farkle” and lose all points accumulated in that turn. Your turn ends and the next player takes their turn.

  5. Ending a Turn:

    • If you decide to stop rolling and record your score, the total points from the scoring dice are added to your overall score.

Winning the Game

  • Target Score: The game continues until a player reaches a pre-set target score, typically 10,000 points.

  • Victory: The first player to reach or exceed the target score wins the game.

Additional Rules

  • House Rules: Players can add variations or house rules to the game, such as different scoring combinations or target scores.

  • Penalty for Farkle: In some versions, a Farkle may have additional penalties, such as losing all points for that round or a specific number of points.

Strategy Tips

  • Risk Management: Decide carefully when to stop rolling and bank your points versus when to risk rolling again for a chance to increase your score.

  • Focus on Scoring Combinations: Prioritize keeping dice that will help you achieve the highest scoring combinations.

Farkle with Friends is a great game for social gatherings, offering a blend of luck and strategy with every roll. Enjoy the excitement and fun of rolling for high scores!
