How to Play A Lotta Axolotls
Objective
Collect the most axolotls by completing collection cards. Each collection card is worth points equal to the number of axolotls in the collection. The player with the highest total points at the end of the game wins.
Components
- Axolotl Cards: These come in single and dual axolotl varieties. Dual axolotl cards can match one or both axolotls on a collection card.
- Collection Cards: Each displays a set of axolotls to be matched.
Setup
- Shuffle the axolotl and collection cards separately.
- Place a number of collection cards face-up in the center of the table.
- Deal a hand of axolotl cards to each player (the specific number can vary; refer to the game’s instructions).
- Place the remaining axolotl cards as a draw pile.
Gameplay
Players take turns in a clockwise direction. On your turn:
- Play Axolotl Cards: You may play from one to all of the cards in your hand. Match axolotl cards to the axolotls depicted on the collection cards in the center.
- Complete Collections: If you match the last remaining axolotl on a collection card, you claim that collection card and place it in your scoring area.
- Draw Cards: After playing, draw cards from the axolotl draw pile to replenish your hand (the number of cards drawn can vary; refer to the game’s instructions).
Ending the Game
The game ends when all collection cards have been claimed or when the axolotl draw pile is depleted (based on the game’s specific end conditions).
Scoring
Each collection card is worth points equal to the number of axolotls it contained. Sum the points from all your collected collection cards. The player with the highest total points wins the game.
Strategy Tips
Monitor Opponents: Keep an eye on which collections other players are targeting to anticipate their moves and adjust your strategy accordingly.
Plan Ahead: Consider which collections you can complete with your current hand and which ones you might aim for in future turns.
Use Dual Axolotl Cards Wisely: These versatile cards can help you match multiple axolotls, so decide the optimal time to play them.
