Exploding Kittens: Party Pack Expansion Rules
The Exploding Kittens Party Pack expands the classic game, allowing up to 10 players while introducing new cards and variations. Below are the rules and special mechanics included in the expansion.
Setup
- Remove Extra Cards: If playing with fewer than 5 players, remove additional Exploding Kitten cards to match the recommended ratio (see below).
- Deal 7 Cards: Each player receives 7 random cards from the deck.
- Give 1 Defuse Card: Each player also gets one Defuse card (used to stop an explosion).
- Insert Exploding Kittens: Add a number of Exploding Kitten cards based on the number of players:
- 2-3 players → 2 Exploding Kittens
- 4-5 players → 3 Exploding Kittens
- 6+ players → 4-6 Exploding Kittens
- Shuffle and Begin: Shuffle the remaining deck and place it in the center. The game starts with the first player taking a turn.
New Cards in the Party Pack
1. Alter the Future
- Look at the top three cards of the deck and rearrange them in any order.
2. Targeted Attack
- Choose a player who must take two turns in a row, skipping yourself.
3. Reverse
- Changes the turn order. If playing with two players, the Reverse card works like a Skip.
4. Draw From the Bottom
- Instead of drawing from the top of the deck, draw the bottom card.
5. Personal Attack (Only in Party Pack)
- Forces a specific player to take two turns in a row, rather than the next player in order.
6. Super Skip (Only in Party Pack)
- Instantly ends your turn, even if you were targeted with an Attack card.
How to Play
- Play Cards (Optional)
- On your turn, you may play any number of cards from your hand.
- Follow the instructions on each card.
- Draw a Card (Mandatory)
- At the end of your turn, draw one card from the deck.
- If it’s an Exploding Kitten, you must Defuse it or lose the game.
- Defuse (If Necessary)
- If you drew an Exploding Kitten, play a Defuse card to prevent elimination.
- Then, secretly place the Exploding Kitten anywhere in the deck (even on top).
- Next Player’s Turn
- The game continues clockwise unless a Reverse or Targeted Attack changes the order.
Winning the Game
- Players continue taking turns until only one player remains.
- The last surviving player wins the game!
Party Pack Variations
- Two-Headed Kitten (Team Mode, 6+ Players)
- Players team up in pairs and share one hand of cards.
- Each turn, teammates play together but can only communicate non-verbally.
- Lightning Round (Fast-Paced Mode)
- Instead of playing until one player remains, set a time limit (e.g., 10 minutes).
- The player with the most Defuse cards at the end wins!
That’s the basic gameplay of Exploding Kittens! It’s a fast-paced and unpredictable game that combines strategy, luck, and a healthy dose of humor. Enjoy defusing those kittens!
