How to Play UNO Show ‘Em No Mercy

Overview of Uno Show ’Em No Mercy

  • Deck Size: 168 cards
  • Players: 2–6
  • Goal: Be the first to discard all your cards or eliminate all other players with the Mercy Rule.
  • As in standard Uno, remember to yell “Uno!” when you have just one card left.

Starting the Game

  1. Choose a Dealer – The dealer shuffles and deals 7 cards to each player.
  2. Set Up the Draw and Discard Piles – Place the remaining cards face-down as the draw pile. Flip the top card to form the discard pile.
    • If the first card is an action card, return it to the pile and flip until a number card appears.
  3. First Player – The player to the dealer’s left starts. Play begins clockwise unless a reverse card changes the direction.

Gameplay Rules

On your turn, you must match the top discard pile card by color, number, or symbol.

Key difference from regular Uno:
If you cannot play, you must draw cards until you pick up a playable one—there’s no single-card draw limit.

If the draw pile runs out, reshuffle the discard pile to form a new draw pile.

Play continues until one player goes out or all but one player are eliminated by the Mercy Rule.

Special Rules in Uno Show ’Em No Mercy

1. Stacking Rule

In this variant, all Draw cards stack, unlike in classic Uno.

  • If a player plays any Draw card (+2, +4, +6, or +10), the next player can avoid the penalty by stacking a Draw card of equal or greater value on top.
  • The accumulated penalty passes to the next player, who must then stack an equal/higher value Draw card or draw the total.
  • This continues until someone can’t stack, forcing them to draw the full combined penalty.

Example:
Player A plays +2 → Player B plays +4 → Player C must now stack +6 or more, or draw 6 cards.

2. Mercy Rule

If any player’s hand reaches 25 or more cards, they are instantly knocked out of the game.
Their cards are set aside until the draw pile is exhausted, at which point they are shuffled back in.

3. Seven Card Rules
  • 7 Card – Swap your entire hand with another player of your choice.
4. Zero Card Rules
  • 0 Card – All players pass their hands to the next player in the current direction of play.

Action Cards

  • Draw 2 – Next player draws 2 cards and skips their turn.
  • Draw 4 – Next player draws 4 cards and skips their turn.
  • Skip – Next player skips their turn.
  • Skip Everyone – All players are skipped; you take another turn.
  • Reverse – Reverses direction of play.
  • Discard All – Discard all cards of the same color as the Discard All card played.

Wild Cards

All Wild cards change the current color in play.

  • Wild Draw 6 – Next player draws 6 cards and misses their turn.
  • Wild Draw 10 – Next player draws 10 cards and misses their turn.
  • Wild Reverse Draw 4 – Reverse direction; the new target draws 4 cards and skips their turn. With only 2 players, this card may force the user to draw instead—unless they stack back.
  • Wild Color Roulette – Next player chooses a color, then draws cards until they pull a card of that color (Wild cards don’t count). All drawn cards go into their hand.

Winning the Game

You can win in two ways:

  1. Empty Your Hand – Be the first to play your last card.
  2. Last Player Standing – Knock out all opponents via the Mercy Rule.

Optional Scoring Method (for multi-round play):

  • Number cards: Face value
  • Color action cards: 20 points
  • Wild cards: 50 points
  • Player eliminated via Mercy Rule: 250 points
Play until a player reaches 1,000 points or another agreed total—the lowest score wins.
