An egg-citing game for your Easter party: Get ready to jump, laugh, and get silly with Hurry Up Chicken Butt! Shake the Chicken to reveal your funny activity, then complete it as quickly as you can before passing the Chicken Shaker to the next player. But be careful—if the timer goes off while you’re holding the Chicken, you’re out! This fast-paced, unpredictable game will have everyone laughing in no time.

How to Hurry Up Chicken Butt

GOAL

Do silly actions as fast as you can—and whatever you do, don’t be the one holding the Chicken when the timer goes off!

SETUP

  1. Sit in a circle. Give each player a Nest and place it in front of them.
  2. Shuffle each of the 3 colored card decks (Purple, Blue, and Green) separately.
  3. Flip over the top card from each deck and place them in the center of the play area.
  4. These 3 cards are the only ones used this round—put the rest back in the box.
  5. Read and practice the activities on the cards together. If any card doesn’t feel right for your group, swap it out.

Pro tip: Players can decorate their Nests and write their names so everyone knows whose is whose!

WHO GOES FIRST?

The youngest player starts. Place the Chicken on their Nest. They’ll go first.

YOUR TURN

  1. Shake the Chicken to roll the color cube inside.
  2. Look at the color that lands face up.
  3. Do the matching action:
    • Purple: Do the Purple card activity.
    • Blue: Do the Blue card activity.
    • Green: Do the Green card activity.
    • Yellow: Leave the circle, complete the Chicken Butt Challenge, and return!
    • Pink: Pick any card activity you want!
    • Rainbow: Roll again!
  4. Once you’ve done the activity, pass the Chicken to the Nest of the player on your left. That player goes next.

THE CHICKEN BUTT CHALLENGE

This one’s special—and a little silly.

  • Before you play, choose someone (a grown-up is best for the first game) to place the Chicken Butt Challenge somewhere outside the circle.
  • It could be under a table, across the room, or even in another room—but make sure everyone knows where it is and can get to it safely.
  • When a player rolls Yellow, they shout:
    “Hurry up, Chicken Butt!”
    Then they leave the circle, touch the Chicken Butt Challenge, and rush back.

WHEN THE TIMER GOES OFF…

Push the button on the bottom of the Chicken to start the timer at the beginning of the game. When the Chicken yells, the game ends right away!

  • If the Chicken is in front of you (or in your hand), you’re out.
  • The player who went just before you is the winner!

YOU’RE READY TO PLAY!

HEY, GROWN-UPS

You’ve reached the secret grown-up section. You can help with setup, read the rules quietly to yourself, and guide the group through the first round. Let the kids take over from there—this game is made to be theirs.

KIDS’ INSTRUCTIONS – READ THIS ALOUD TO THE KIDS:

Alright everyone, we’re going to sit in a circle with a Nest in front of each of us. We’re going to take turns passing the Chicken from one Nest to the next.

The Chicken will be making clucking noises the whole time, and when it’s done, it’s going to yell really loudly! You don’t want the Chicken on your Nest when it yells!

So, every time someone passes the Chicken to your Nest, you need to pass it to the next player’s Nest as fast as you can!

But here’s the trick—you can’t just pass it like that. First, you have to shake the Chicken and then do the special color activity that matches what the Chicken lands on.

Once you’ve finished the activity, you can pass the Chicken to the next player’s Nest.

Let’s practice the purple, green, and blue activities, and then we’ll try the special pink Chicken Butt Challenge. After that, we’ll be ready to start the game!
