How to Play Moose Master
Game Setup
Begin by opening both decks of cards in the box and organizing them into three separate piles:
- Moose Master Cards
- Moose Rules Cards
- Penalty Cards
Follow these steps to set up the game:
- Shuffle each of the three decks separately.
- Place the Moose Master deck face down in the center of the play area.
- From the Moose Rules deck, choose 2 cards to place face up next to the Moose Master deck. These are the active rules for the game.
- Set the remaining Moose Rules cards aside—they will not be used this round.
- Place the Penalty Cards in a pile within reach of all players.
Game Play
The player who has the best laugh starts the game (decided by group consensus). Play continues clockwise.
On Your Turn:
- Draw the top card from the Moose Master deck.
- Read the card out loud to the group.
- Follow the instructions on the card immediately—this may involve individual actions, group responses, or rule changes.
Earning Penalties:
- After a Moose Master card is read, all players must react quickly.
- The last person to follow an action—or the first person to make a mistake—receives a Penalty Card, placed face up in front of them.
- Players should also watch for mistakes based on the 2 active Moose Rules. If someone breaks one of those rules, call them out. If the group agrees, the player takes a Penalty Card.
Moose Rules
Moose Rules are ongoing game conditions that apply to everyone at all times. These might limit what players can say or require certain actions in response to specific words. Be vigilant—violating a Moose Rule is grounds for a penalty.
There should always be exactly two Moose Rules in play at any time.
How to Win
There are two official ways to play Moose Master:
1. Elimination Mode
- Any player who collects 7 Penalty Cards is eliminated from the game.
- The last two players remaining are declared the winners.
2. Fewest Penalties Mode
- Continue playing until the Moose Master deck is empty.
- The player with the fewest Penalty Cards at the end of the game wins.
Moose Master is a game that’s easy to learn but can lead to hilarious situations and quick thinking. So gather your friends and family, prepare for some laughs, and see who reigns supreme as the ultimate Moose Master!
