How to Play My Mine Dice Game
What’s in the Box
- 77 Gold Nuggets
- 7 Dice
- 6 Minecarts
- 1 Dice Tray
- 1 Storage Bag
The objective is simple: collect the most gold nuggets before the last nugget is claimed.
Game Setup
- Place the dice tray with the dice in the center of the play area.
- Put all 77 gold nuggets into the storage bag and set it next to the dice tray.
- Give each player a minecart.
- Determine the starting player: each player rolls all 7 dice, adds the numbers shown, and the highest roller goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
How to Play
Each turn has two main actions:
- Staking Your Claim
- Collecting Your Gold
Action One: Staking Your Claim
- Roll all seven dice into the tray.
- Set aside dice that allow you to collect gold:
- Dice showing a gold nugget
- Dice showing a pickaxe symbol
- Three or more dice showing the same number
- You may reroll remaining dice as long as at least one die is set aside each roll.
- Number groups: Once a group of three or more number dice is set aside, you can add additional matching dice from later rolls—even if it’s less than three—to expand your claim. Large groups (6-7 dice) can be split into multiple sets for more gold.
Important: Dice set aside cannot be returned to rerolls.
- After any roll, you can choose to stop and claim your gold. If you reroll and fail to set aside any dice, you lose all dice previously set aside and end your turn.
Action Two: Collecting Your Gold
- Use the dice you set aside to claim nuggets from the bag according to the number dice or gold symbols.
- Stealing from another player: If you set aside three or more pickaxe dice, you can take your earned nuggets from another player’s minecart instead of the bag.
- Bonus nuggets: Claiming all seven dice in a turn earns 3 extra nuggets from the bag.
Place all claimed nuggets in your minecart and pass the turn clockwise.
Losing Your Claim
- If you cannot set aside any dice after a roll, your turn ends, and all dice from that turn are forfeited.
End of the Game
The game ends when the last gold nugget is taken from the bag. Players count the nuggets in their minecarts, and the player with the most gold wins. Ties are shared victories.
Strategy Tips
- Balance risk and reward: Keep enough dice in play to maximize your claim without losing it all.
- Use pickaxes wisely: Steal from opponents or multiply your gold in certain variants.
- Track remaining nuggets: Decide when it’s best to stop or reroll.
- Expand number groups strategically: Adding dice increases your claim potential.
Useful Tips
- Roll carefully—avoid losing all your set-aside dice.
- Prioritize collecting high-value number dice and nuggets first.
- Watch other players’ minecarts if pickaxes allow stealing.
- Plan your turn to maximize bonus nuggets when claiming all seven dice.
Variations
- Plundering Pickaxes: Each pickaxe counts as a single nugget stolen from another player.
- Speedy Sequences: Roll sequences of three or more numbers for additional nuggets.
- Pickaxe Panic: Use pickaxes to multiply single gold nugget dice, collecting from the bag or opponents.
