3. Deal Starting Hands

  • Give each player 5 cards from the Main Deck.

Here to Slay FAQ

How many players can play Here to Slay?

Here to Slay is designed for 2–6 players, making it great for small groups or full game nights.

What is the goal of the game?

The objective is to either slay three monsters or assemble a full party of six heroes with unique classes to win. You can pursue either path to victory.

Can I use multiple copies of the same hero?

No. Each hero is unique, and you cannot have duplicates of the same hero in your party. Strategy comes from combining different classes and abilities.

What happens if a hero is slain?

If a hero is slain by another player’s action card, they are removed from your party and placed in the discard pile. You may need to recruit new heroes to replace them.

How do action cards work?

Action cards allow you to perform special moves like slaying monsters, sabotaging opponents, or drawing extra cards. Timing and strategy in using them is key.

Can a monster be slain by multiple players in the same round?

No. Once a monster is slain, it is removed from the game, and only the player who played the slay action counts it toward their victory conditions.

What if I can’t draw a hero or action card on my turn?

If the deck runs out, reshuffle the discard pile to form a new draw pile. You always draw one card per turn unless an action specifies otherwise.

How long does a game usually take?

Most games last 30–60 minutes, depending on the number of players and how aggressively action cards are used.

Notes/Variations

  • Playing a Hero: If you have a Mage Hero card in your hand, you can play it into your party for 1 action point.
  • Attacking a Monster: To attack a revealed Monster, you roll two dice, add any modifiers, and try to meet or exceed the Monster’s defense value. If successful, you slay the Monster and add it to your victory pile.

Here to Slay is an exciting mix of strategy and luck, requiring players to carefully build their party, equip their heroes, and tactically defeat monsters while managing their resources and countering opponents’ actions.
