Objective
Be the last player with any chips remaining.
What You Need
- 3 dice – You can use specialty LCR dice or substitute regular six-sided dice.
- Chips – You’ll need 3 chips per player (or any small, identical items). Real coins or small stakes add excitement to the game.

Dice Face Substitutions (if using standard dice):
- 1, 2, 3 = Dots (No action)
- 4 = L (Pass a chip to the Left)
- 5 = C (Place a chip in the Center)
- 6 = R (Pass a chip to the Right)
Game Setup
- Each player starts with 3 chips.
- Players sit in a circle and select someone to go first.
- The center of the circle is the pot, where chips are placed when rolled as “C”.
Left Center Right Gameplay
On your turn:
- Roll up to 3 dice, depending on how many chips you have:
- 3 or more chips = roll 3 dice
- 2 chips = roll 2 dice
- 1 chip = roll 1 die
- 0 chips = skip your turn (you’re not out; you can rejoin if chips come your way)
After rolling, take action for each die:
- L (4): Pass one chip to the player on your left.
- C (5): Place one chip in the center pot.
- R (6): Pass one chip to the player on your right.
- Dot (1–3): Do nothing.
After your turn, pass the dice clockwise.
Example: If you have 4 chips and roll L, C, and a dot, you give 1 chip left, put 1 in the center, and keep 2.
Winning the Game
The last player holding any chips wins the game—and collects all chips from the pot.
Left Center Right FAQ
LCR works best with three or more players, but larger groups make the game more exciting.
L means pass one chip to the player on your left.
R means pass one chip to the player on your right.
C means put one chip into the center pot.
Dots mean you keep your chip.
Yes, you can substitute coins, tokens, or any small objects for chips. Many groups use quarters or poker chips.
The game continues until only one player has chips left. That player wins the entire center pot.
Most rounds are 5–15 minutes, depending on the number of players and starting chips.
LCR Variants
LCR Wild
This version adds a twist using “Wilds”:
- Use a 1 on a standard die as the Wild.
- Roll a Wild? Take chips instead:
- 1 Wild: Take 1 chip from any player.
- 2 Wilds: Take 2 chips from one player, or 1 chip each from two players.
- 3 Wilds: Take all chips from the center pot and win instantly!
LCR Wilder
A Wild variant with an added choice:
- Before rolling, pay 3 chips to the center to reverse the dice effects for your turn.
- L becomes take from the left.
- R becomes take from the right.
- C becomes take from the center.
- Wilds are also reversed! Roll one or two 1s? You must give chips instead of taking them.
- Roll 3 Wilds after paying? You must put all your chips in the center—ouch!
Last Chip Wins
The game continues until a player places their last chip into the center (via a “C” roll). Players stay in until all chips are gone.
Dot to Win
Great for playing with real stakes:
- The final player must roll only dots (1–3) to win.
- If they roll an L, C, or R, chips move again and the game continues.
- If their last chip goes to the center, play a new round with all chips in the pot.
Choose Your Stakes
Instead of a set chip count:
- Players buy in by choosing how many chips they want.
- Example: If each chip costs $0.25 and you want 8 chips, you pay $2.
Final Tips
- You’re never fully out—even with zero chips. Another player may pass one to you.
- No strategy needed, just roll and react.
- LCR is fast, random, and full of laughs—perfect for all ages.
Left Center Right is a simple yet engaging game that provides fun for all ages. So grab some dice and chips, gather your friends and family, and get ready to roll the dice and see who comes out on top!
