How to Play What Do You Meme Family Edition
Equipment
- Meme Cards: A deck of meme cards containing various captionless images.
- Caption Cards: A deck of caption cards containing humorous phrases or captions.
- Scorekeeping Materials: Pen and paper or a scorekeeping app.
Setup
1. Prepare the Decks: Shuffle the meme cards and place them face-down in the center of the playing area. Shuffle the caption cards and place them face-down in a separate pile.
2. Deal Caption Cards: Deal seven Caption Cards face down to each player. These are your options for creating the meme.
3. Determine the Starting Player: Decide who will be the starting player. This can be done by any agreed-upon method, such as the player with the most recent birthday or the player who can mimic the best meme pose.
Gameplay
- Starting the Round:
- The starting judge draws a photo card from the deck and displays it for all players to see.
- Captioning the Photo:
- All other players select one or more caption cards from their hand that they think best fits the photo.
- Players submit their chosen caption cards face-down to the judge.
- Judging the Submissions:
- The judge shuffles the submitted caption cards and reads them aloud one by one, along with the displayed photo.
- The judge selects the funniest or most fitting caption combination and awards the corresponding player a point.
- The winning player keeps the photo card as a point.
- Rotating Judges:
- After each round, the role of the judge rotates to the next player in clockwise order.
- All players draw new caption cards to replenish their hands after each round.
- Continuing Rounds:
- Repeat the process of drawing photo cards, submitting caption cards, judging submissions, and awarding points.
- The game continues for a predetermined number of rounds or until players decide to end the game.
Winning the Game
The player with the highest total score at the end of the game wins.
