Battleship Reloaded is an electronic strategy game where two players (or one player vs. the computer) take turns firing at enemy coordinates to sink each other’s fleet. The goal is to be the first to destroy all five of your opponent’s ships. This version includes both Classic and Advanced Modes, featuring torpedoes, salvos, and radar scans for added tactical depth. Use this guide to learn how to set up, play, and master the game.

How to Play Battleship


Objective

Command your fleet and outsmart your opponent by being the first to sink all five of their ships. Use strategic attacks, advanced weapons (in 2-player mode), and careful tracking to win the battle.

  • Folding Command Unit
  • 10 Ships (5 per player)
  • 12 Advanced Weapon Pegs (2 torpedoes, 4 salvo, 6 radar)
  • 170 Green Miss Pegs
  • 75 Red Hit Pegs
  • 4 Reference Panels
  • Layout Cards
  • Target and Battle Grids

Before You Play (First Time Setup)

  1. Insert 3 AA batteries into the command unit.
  2. Remove all game parts from packaging.
  3. Remove the target grid and layout cards.
  4. Unfold the command unit so it lies flat.
  5. Insert the target grid in the center.
  6. Lift the middle of the unit until it clicks into place.
  7. Slide the reference panels into the slots next to each dial.
  8. Split the ships evenly—each player gets 5 ships.
  9. Distribute half the red (hit) and green (miss) pegs to each player.
  10. If using Advanced Mode, give each player 1 torpedo, 2 salvo, and 3 radar pegs.

Basic Controls

  • On/Off Switch: Turns the unit on or off.
  • Repeat/Cancel Button: Tap to repeat the last command. Hold to cancel your last entry.
  • Fire Button: Confirms entries and attacks.
  • Advanced Weapons Button: Cycles through torpedo, salvo, and radar options in Advanced Mode.
  • Input Dials: Use to enter letter/number coordinates.
  • Volume Control: Located on Commander 1’s side.

Game Setup

  1. Select Player Count
    • Use the dials to enter the number of players and press Fire.
    • In 1-player games, use the Commander 1 side only.
  2. Choose Game Mode (2-player only)
    • Select Classic or Advanced Mode using the dials and press Fire.
  3. Place Your Fleet
    • Use a layout card or choose your own custom setup.
    • Ships must be placed on-grid (not overlapping or diagonal).
    • Enter the start and end coordinates for each ship (Carrier to Patrol Boat).

How to Play

On Your Turn (Classic Mode)

  1. Rotate the dials to enter the letter and number of your attack target.
  2. Press Fire to launch your missile.
  • If it’s a hit, you’ll hear an explosion and confirmation.
    • Mark it with a red peg on your target grid.
    • Your opponent places a red peg in the matching spot on their battle grid.
  • If it’s a miss, you’ll hear confirmation.
    • Mark it with a green peg.

Take turns alternating shots until a player sinks all 5 enemy ships.


Advanced Mode (2-Player Only)

In addition to regular missiles, players can use advanced weapons:

Torpedo

  • Guaranteed hit.
  • Press Advanced Weapons Button until it says “Torpedo.”
  • Press Fire to launch.
  • The unit will announce the hit location.
  • Mark the spot with a torpedo peg.

Salvo

  • Fires five shots in a straight line.
  • Select “Salvo” and press Fire.
  • Enter the first and last coordinates of a 5-space line.
  • Unit reports hits within that line.
  • Mark hits with red pegs and misses with green.

Radar

  • Scans a 3×3 square for ships.
  • Select “Radar” and press Fire.
  • Enter the center coordinate of the 3×3 area.
  • The unit will say if ships are in range but not reveal exact positions.

Sinking Ships

When all the pegs for a ship have been placed, it is considered sunk. The unit will announce which ship has been destroyed. Keep the ship on the board.


Winning the Game

The first player to sink all five enemy ships wins!


Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Cancel an Input: Hold Repeat/Cancel until three beeps sound. Re-enter the last information.
  • Reset the Unit: Use the On/Off switch or remove and reinsert the batteries.
  • Auto Sleep: The unit powers down after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Dial Accuracy: Make sure dials are aligned exactly with a letter or number, not in-between.

Storage Instructions

Fold the panels flat and return all components to the box.

Turn off the unit.

Store ships and pegs in their compartments.

Remove reference panels.

Press the center of the unit until the input dials fold flat.
