OBJECTIVE

Do your best to match the answer of exactly one other player to finish the Word Cues, and gain points:

• If exactly two players write the same word, each of them earns 3 points.
• If more than two players write the same word, each of them earns 1 point.
• All other players get 0 points.

Once a player has reached 25 points, they win!

BLANK SLATE GAMEPLAY

1. Lay out the Score Board and let each player choose a Slate.
2. Each player writes their name on the Score Board in the color bar matching their slate color.
3. Choose someone to act as Selector first.

• The Selector picks a Word Cue card from the draw side of the box, reads it aloud, and places it face-up on the table.
• In the Answer Phase, each player tries to predict a word that only one other person will also write.
• Players write down their answer on their slate.
• Everyone reveals their word one-by-one, starting with the person to the Selector’s left.

HOW TO FILL IN THE BLANKS

There are a few guidelines for valid answers:

• Single-letter additions are not allowed
  (e.g., “SEAT” from “SEA” is invalid)
• Adding a syllable is allowed
  if the root word is still audible
  (e.g., “SEAWEED” from “SEA”)
• Compound words or two-word phrases are acceptable
  (e.g., “DAYLIGHT” or “DAY TRIP”)
• Proper nouns are okay, as long as it’s still one word
  (e.g., “SUPERMAN” or “MICKEY MOUSE” as a phrase)

SCORING BLANK SLATE

• Tally points after each round:
  • 3 points for unique pairs
  • 1 point for common matches (more than 2 players)
  • 0 points for unmatched words
• Update the player scores on the Score Board.
• Discard the used Word Cue card into the back of the card box.
• Pass the box to the next player (clockwise); they become the new Selector.

Continue playing rounds until someone reaches 25 points. That player wins!

HINTS AND TIPS

• Clean Dry-Erase Slates after each session to prevent staining.
• Don’t hesitate to give silly or unexpected answers—you might sync with someone!
• If you run out of Word Cue cards, flip the box and draw from the discard side.
• Experiment with House Rules:
  • Pick the first Selector randomly (age, dice, rock-paper-scissors).
  • Adjust the word size allowed, limit time to answer, or let players “tag” someone and try to match with them for bonus points.
• Don’t stress about matching every round—just enjoy the game and have fun with the Word Cues!
