How to Play Chicken VS Hotdog
Overview
Players: 2 or more
Ages: 8+
Objective: Be the first team to flip all six of your Character Cards to the color side by winning challenges.
Setup
- Form Teams:
- Choose sides: Team Chicken or Team Hotdog.
- If only two players, each person plays both teams.
- With more than two players, split evenly into two teams.
- Take Team Materials:
- Each team takes all Bidding Cards and Character Cards that match their team’s color and character.
- Assemble Your Character:
- Lay out your team’s Character Cards face up using the gray side to form the full image of your character.
- Draw Bidding Cards:
- Shuffle your team’s Bidding Cards.
- Each team draws four cards to start. These cards are private. The rest form your draw pile.
- Prepare Challenge Cards:
- Shuffle the Challenge Cards and place them face down in the center of the table.
How to Play
1. Reveal a Challenge
- At the start of each round, flip over the top Challenge Card.
- The card shows a physical challenge using the Sling’ems.
2. Bid for the Challenge
- Each team secretly chooses one of their current Bidding Cards.
- If your team feels confident about completing the challenge, play a higher card.
- Once chosen, both teams reveal their cards at the same time.
Highest bid wins the chance to attempt the challenge.
- If both teams bid the same amount, resolve a Flipperama:
- Both teams rapidly flip their Sling’em to try to land upright.
- First team to complete two successful single flips wins the tiebreaker and chooses which team will attempt the challenge.
- In team play, different players must complete each flip.
3. Attempting the Challenge
- The team with the winning bid now tries to complete the challenge shown on the card.
- The number of allowed attempts is printed on the top-left of the Challenge Card.
- If there are multiple players on a team, they must take turns attempting challenges.
A successful flip means the character lands upright, either on the table or on the floor.
- The suction cup does not need to stick—just standing upright is enough.
- If the character falls off the table but lands upright, it still counts.
4. Scoring the Round
- If the team succeeds, they flip one of their Character Cards to the color side.
- If they fail, the other team flips one of their Character Cards to the color side.
5. Prepare for the Next Round
- Discard both used Bidding Cards.
- Move the Challenge Card to the bottom of the deck.
- When a team has played all four of their Bidding Cards, draw four new ones from the team’s deck.
Winning the Game
- The first team to flip all six of their Character Cards to the color side wins the game!
Variant Game: Dueling Sling’Ems
Try this competitive alternative to challenges:
- Players stand 6–8 feet apart.
- Take turns flipping your Sling’em, trying to land it upright in front of your opponent.
- Scoring:
- If both or neither land upright: no points.
- If one player succeeds: that player scores 1 point.
- Continue until a player scores three points—they win!
