Drunk Pictionary is a hilarious twist on the classic drawing and guessing game Pictionary, where your artistic abilities might just get a little wobbly as the drinks kick in. Perfect for parties, Drunk Pictionary adds a fun, boozy element to the mix, where you and your friends take turns drawing prompts while everyone guesses—and maybe sloshes a little too much!

How to Play Drunk Pictionary (Drinking Game)
Setup
To play Drunk Pictionary, you’ll need:
- A large piece of paper or a whiteboard
- Markers or pens (for drawing)
- A timer (or use a phone timer)
- A Pictionary word list (check out our Pictionary Word Ideas List at the bottom of the page!)
- Drinks (beer, wine, cocktails, or whatever you’re into!)
- At least 4 players (the more, the merrier)
Gameplay
- Divide Into Teams: Split your group into two teams. Each team will take turns drawing and guessing.
- Prepare the Word List: You can use a Pictionary app to generate random words, or make your own list. The words should be varied (nouns, places, actions, etc.) and can range from easy to challenging.
- The Drawing Player: Each round, one player from each team will draw. The drawer is given a word from the list (without revealing it to anyone), and they must draw that word for their team to guess. They have 60 seconds (or a set time) to complete their drawing.
- The Guessing Player: The rest of the team tries to guess what the drawer is depicting. If they guess correctly before time runs out, the team earns a point!
- Drinking Element:
- If the team guesses the word correctly, the drawer gets a reward: they assign a drink to someone on the opposing team.
- If the team doesn’t guess the word in time, the drawer has to take a drink as a penalty.
- If a team guesses incorrectly (after multiple attempts), the opposing team gets a chance to guess. If they’re correct, the team that failed the guess drinks!
- Rotate Turns: After each round, the teams rotate, and another player draws. Continue playing until everyone’s had a chance to draw at least once.
Ending the Game
You can play until a certain number of rounds, or until someone gets too tipsy to draw anymore! The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Drunk Pictionary FAQ
Drunk Pictionary is played like regular Pictionary, but with drinking rules added. Players split into teams, take turns drawing a word for their team to guess within a time limit, and assign drinks or take penalties based on whether the guess is correct.
You need at least four players to form two teams, but Drunk Pictionary works best with larger groups at parties.
No. Alcohol is optional. Players can use non-alcoholic drinks or substitute drinking penalties with dares or point penalties.
Standard Pictionary rules apply: no talking, no writing letters or numbers, and no acting. The only difference is the added drinking penalties or rewards.
Most games use a 60-second timer per round, but the time limit can be adjusted to fit your group.
If the team fails to guess in time, the drawer usually takes a drink, or the opposing team may get a chance to guess and assign a drink.
Yes. Players can play individually, with the first correct guesser assigning drinks instead of scoring team points.
