How to Play Slap Cup (Drinking Game)

Setup

To play Slap Cup, you’ll need:

  • A large cup (the “Slap Cup”)
  • Several small cups (usually 6-8)
  • A ping pong ball
  • Drinks (beer, cocktails, etc.)
  • A table to play on
  • At least 4 players (but the game works best with 6-8 players)

How to Play

  1. Prepare the Setup:
    • Place the large Slap Cup in the center of the table. This is the cup everyone will try to land their ping pong ball in.
    • Distribute the smaller cups around the table, filling them with the drink of your choice. These cups are for the players to drink from during the game.
    • Each player should have a small cup in front of them.
  2. Game Objective: The goal is to land your ping pong ball in the Slap Cup while avoiding being slapped by the other players.
  3. Starting the Game:
    • The game starts with one player attempting to bounce the ping pong ball into the Slap Cup. The player can try as many times as they want, but the faster they land it, the quicker the game moves.
    • When a player successfully lands the ball in the Slap Cup, they must shout “Slap!” and immediately start slapping the other players’ cups. They will have to slap the cups out of their hands or knock them off the table.
    • If a player is caught with a cup in their hand and gets slapped by the winner, they must take a drink from their cup.
    • The first player to land the ball in the Slap Cup continues playing, while the other players take a turn trying to land their ball next.
  4. Slap Cup Action:
    • Once someone lands their ball in the Slap Cup, the remaining players quickly race to grab their own small cups, fill them with the drink, and continue trying to avoid getting slapped.
    • The player who successfully lands their ball in the Slap Cup is the “Slapper,” and they can continue to keep playing.
    • If a player is caught with a cup in hand and is slapped, they must drink from their cup.
  5. Ending the Game: The game continues until one player is left standing or until the drinks are gone! The last person remaining is the winner, and they get to declare themselves the “Slap Cup Champion.”
