How to Play Civil War (Drinking Game)

Setup

To play Civil War, you’ll need:

  • Two beer pong tables (or one large table)
  • Two or more teams (ideally 4 players, but more can join)
  • 12 cups (6 per team, arranged in a 3-cup triangle or straight line)
  • Ping pong balls (at least 4–6)
  • Drinks of your choice (beer, cocktails, etc.)

How to Play

  1. Prepare the Setup: Each team has 6 cups on the table (3 cups for each player). These cups are filled with the drink of choice, usually beer. Place the cups on opposite sides of the table, with each team facing off across the long side.
  2. Game Objective: The goal is to eliminate all the opponent’s cups by throwing ping pong balls into their cups. However, unlike regular beer pong, you don’t just shoot one ball at a time – you’re both shooting multiple balls simultaneously.
  3. Start the Game:
    • Each team starts with 3 cups and 3 balls in play.
    • The first round is where the chaos begins: both teams throw their ping pong balls at the opposing team’s cups at the same time. This can quickly turn into a wild flurry of action, as the goal is to sink as many balls as possible.
    • Teams can bounce their balls off the table, and each time a ball lands in an opponent’s cup, the cup is removed, and the opposing team has to drink from it.
  4. Special Rules:
    • If you make a ball in one of the opponent’s cups, they must drink from that cup and remove it from the table.
    • Once a ball bounces off the table and lands in a cup, it counts for two cups to be removed instead of one (making it a bonus play).
    • Players can have their cups blocked by the other team, but it requires good teamwork and quick reflexes.
    • When all cups are eliminated from one team, that team loses the game.
  5. Bonus Rounds and Chaos: In Civil War, the game doesn’t stop until all cups from one team are cleared, so the round is filled with constant movement and chaos. The speed at which both teams fire their shots adds an element of unpredictability that makes Civil War much faster and more intense than regular beer pong.

Conclusion

Civil War is an exhilarating, high-speed drinking game that cranks up the intensity of traditional beer pong. It’s perfect for large groups and guarantees an unforgettable time as you work with your team to eliminate your opponents’ cups and outlast them in a frantic, action-packed game. Just remember to play responsibly, as the chaos can easily get out of hand — but that’s what makes it so much fun!
