How to Play Go! Doggy Go!
Game Contents
- 1 game board
- 1 die
- 4 dachshund pawns (each made of a head and a tail)
- 28 belly pieces (7 per dachshund)
- 4 bones
Objective
Be the first player to get your dachshund’s hind legs across the finish line.
Setup
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Each player selects a color and takes the matching dachshund head, tail, seven belly pieces, and one bone.
- Assemble your dachshund by connecting the head, one belly piece, and the tail (see Figure 1).
- Position your dachshund on the board so its front paws rest on the bone square in front of your colored doghouse, facing toward the finish line.
- Keep the remaining belly pieces and your bone nearby for easy access.
- Place the die next to the board.
How to Play
- The player who last walked a dog goes first. Play then proceeds clockwise.
- On your turn, roll the die and move your dachshund forward in your lane the number of spaces shown. Then the next player takes their turn.
Important Rules:
- Always measure movement by the front paws of your dachshund!
- If your dachshund’s front paws end on a square marked with paw prints (see Figure 2), the player whose color matches those paw prints must add a belly piece to their dachshund.
- Before picking up their dog, that player places their bone on the square where the front paws landed (Figure 3) to remember where to reposition the front paws after extending the body.
- If you have already added all 7 belly pieces and another player lands on your paw-print square, you must move your dachshund back one space.
- Landing on a square with your own color’s paw prints allows you to remove one belly piece from your dachshund.
- Landing on an empty square means nothing special happens this turn.
- Once your dachshund’s front paws cross the finish line, start counting movement by your dachshund’s hind paws instead.
Winning the Game
The first player whose dachshund crosses the finish line with its hind legs wins the race and the game!
