Otrio is a strategic, abstract board game that plays like a modern, multi-dimensional version of Tic-Tac-Toe. It challenges players to line up their pieces in various configurations to win the game. Here’s a detailed overview of the rules:

How to Play Otrio

Setup

Place all 36 playing pieces in the outer ring of the game board. Group pieces of the same color together so each set is positioned side by side.

How to Play

2 Players
Each player controls two different colors that sit opposite each other on the board. You can win using either of your colors, but colors cannot be combined to form a winning line. The youngest player starts, and turns move clockwise. On your turn, place one of your pieces into the center area of the board.

3–4 Players
Each player chooses a single color. If there are only three players, one color remains unused. The youngest player goes first, and play continues clockwise. Players take turns placing one piece at a time into the center play area.

Piece Placement Rules

• Once placed, pieces stay where they are—no moving after placement.
• If you have no legal moves, you must skip your turn.
• Continue placing pieces until a player forms an Otrio.

Winning the Game

The first player to align three of their own pieces in a row wins. There are three ways to achieve this:
