How to Play Hi-Ho Cheery-O
Game Contents
- 1 plastic game board with 4 cherry trees and buckets
- 44 plastic cherries (40 for gameplay, 4 extras)
- 1 spinner
- Puzzle (some versions come with a simple 9-piece puzzle for added fun)
Object of the Game
Be the first player to pick all 10 cherries from your tree and collect them in your bucket.
Setup
- Each player chooses a tree and places 10 cherries on it.
- The color of the tree matches the color of the bucket next to it.
- Place the spinner in the center where everyone can reach it.
Hi-Ho! Cherry-O Gameplay
- The youngest player spins first, and play moves clockwise.
- On your turn, spin the spinner and follow its instructions:
- 1 Cherry: Pick one cherry from your tree and place it in your bucket.
- 2 Cherries: Pick two cherries and add them to your bucket.
- 3 Cherries: Pick three cherries and add them to your bucket.
- 4 Cherries: Pick four cherries and add them to your bucket.
- Bird or Dog: Oh no! Take two cherries out of your bucket and put them back on your tree. (If you only have one, return that one; if you have none, skip this part.)
- Spilled Bucket: All your cherries spill! Place every cherry from your bucket back onto your tree and start again.
Winning the Game
The first player to pick all 10 cherries and fill their bucket shouts “Hi-Ho! Cherry-O!” and wins the game!
