Setup:
- Players:Â The game is best played with 3-8 players.
- Cards:Â Shuffle the deck of monster cards and place them in a stack face down.
- Drawing Materials:Â Ensure each player has a drawing pad or paper and a pen or pencil.
Gameplay:
- Choose the Witness:
- Select a player to be the first “Witness.” The Witness will be the one describing the monster for the round.
- Viewing the Monster:
- The Witness draws a monster card from the top of the stack and has 20 seconds to memorize the monster’s appearance without showing it to the other players.
- Describing the Monster:
- After the 20 seconds, the Witness puts the monster card face down.
- The Witness then has 2 minutes to describe the monster to the other players, who will draw based on the description.
- The Witness cannot use gestures or sounds and must rely solely on verbal descriptions.
- Drawing the Monster:
- While the Witness describes the monster, the other players draw what they hear.
- Players can ask the Witness questions, but the Witness cannot look at the monster card during the description phase.
- Reveal and Vote:
- After 2 minutes, the Witness stops describing, and all players reveal their drawings.
- The Witness then reveals the monster card to all players.
- Players vote on the drawing they think is the most accurate representation of the monster described by the Witness.
- Scoring:
- The player whose drawing receives the most votes gets a point.
- The Witness also gets a point if at least one player’s drawing matches the monster card closely.
- Rotate Roles:
- The role of the Witness rotates clockwise for the next round.
- Continue playing until each player has had a chance to be the Witness at least once or a predetermined number of rounds is completed.
Winning the Game:
- The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Strategy Tips:
- As the Witness, be as descriptive as possible, focusing on unique features of the monster.
- As a drawer, pay close attention to the details provided and ask clarifying questions.
- Creativity can be as valuable as accuracy, especially in a game where interpretation plays a key role.
MonsDRAWsity is a fun and chaotic game that encourages creativity and quick thinking.
