How to Play Namiji

Components:

• Game board depicting the sea route
• Player boats
• Resource tokens (fish, pearls, etc.)
• Treasure tokens
• Encounter cards
• Painting cards
• Various scoring tokens

Objective:

Players aim to collect the most victory points by exploring the seas, gathering resources, acquiring treasures, fulfilling encounter card objectives, and completing painting sets.

Setup:

1. Place the game board in the center of the playing area.
2. Each player chooses a boat and places it at the starting location.
3. Shuffle the Encounter cards and Painting cards and place them face down in separate decks.
4. Place the resource tokens, treasure tokens, and scoring tokens within easy reach.

Gameplay:

Players take turns in clockwise order. On a turn:

1. Movement: The active player moves their boat along the sea route, choosing a destination space.
2. Action: Depending on the space landed on, the player performs a specific action:
   • Resource Spaces: Collect the indicated resource tokens.
   • Treasure Spaces: Collect a treasure token.
   • Encounter Spaces: Draw an Encounter card and resolve its effect.
   • Painting Spaces: Draw a Painting card.
3. Optional Actions: Players may also spend resources to purchase Painting cards or fulfill Encounter card objectives.

Scoring:

Throughout the game and at the end, players score points for:

• Collected resources
• Acquired treasures
• Completed Encounter card objectives
• Sets of Painting cards

Winning:

The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins.
