How to Play Sixem Dice Game
Overview
The game is played over several rounds until a winner is determined. Each round consists of everyone rolling dice, a player shouting “STOP,” and players marking their boards with Xs.
Set Up
Each player needs six dice (one of each color), a playing board, and a marker.
Objective of the Game
The goal is to be the first to complete the pattern shown on the spinner by forming lines of Xs on your board.
Starting the Game
All players roll one die. The player with the highest roll spins the spinner to determine the winning pattern for the round. If there’s a tie, players continue rolling until one player has the highest number. The pattern on the spinner is then announced aloud. A “line” consists of six Xs in a row, which can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
Rolling the Dice
Once the pattern is set, all players start the round with all six of their dice in hand and roll them as quickly as possible. The objective is to roll one of each number (1 through 6). Players can choose to re-roll some or all of their dice. The round continues until the first player rolls a complete set (1 through 6) and yells “STOP!”
Marking the Board
When a player yells “STOP,” all players must immediately stop rolling. Players who still have dice in hand may roll those dice. The player to the left of the one who shouted “STOP” marks their board first, adding one X for each unique number they rolled. If a player rolled more than one die with the same number, they must choose one die to mark. Only one X per number can be marked in a round.
A “line” consists of six connected Xs, but these Xs are not locked in place and can be erased by other players during future rounds.
Here’s a twist: if a player rolls a number that matches an X already on their board, they can force another player to erase the identical X (same color and number) from their board.
After the first player finishes marking their board, the next player in clockwise order marks their board, and so on. The player who yelled “STOP” marks their board last.
Winning the Round
If multiple players match the pattern shown on the spinner by the end of a round, a tiebreaker occurs:
- Count the total number of lines (in any direction) on each tied player’s board. The player with the most lines wins.
- If the tie remains, continue playing until one player has more lines at the end of a round.
Tiebreaker
The first player to match the pattern shown on the spinner wins! However, no winner can be declared until all players have finished marking their boards for the round.
Additional Rules
- Players are not required to match the exact same lines as others. For example, if the pattern for the game is one vertical line, the first player to complete any vertical line wins.
- Players are encouraged to watch others’ boards and strategize ways to sabotage their opponents.
- The game is a mix of speed and strategy. The player who yells “STOP” first marks their board last, which can impact the outcome of the game.
- If Player 1 has a winning line but other players still need to mark their boards, the remaining players can erase Xs from Player 1’s line, which is why a winner can’t be declared until everyone has finished marking their boards.
Winning the Game
The first player to complete the pattern on the spinner wins!
Whether you’re aiming to build the perfect line or plotting to knock out an opponent’s progress, Sixem Dice Game keeps the action unpredictable and exciting. Master the mix of quick thinking and tactical play, and you just might be the first to shout “STOP!” and win the game.
