How to Play Circle of Death
What You’ll Need:
- 2 or more players
- A deck of cards (or two if you’re going big)
- Alcoholic drinks for everyone
- A table or flat surface
Setup:
- Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
- Arrange the cards face-down in a ring (circle) at the center of the table.
- Players sit around the table with their drinks.
- Choose anyone to start. Play proceeds clockwise.
The Golden Rule:
Don’t break the circle!
Accidentally breaking the ring of cards is a major party foul and usually earns you a drink penalty.
Card Rules & Actions:
- Ace – “In Your Face”
Everyone except the person who drew the card takes a drink. - 2 – “You”
Choose one player to take a drink. - 3 – “Me”
You drink. - 4 – “Floor”
Last person to slap the table drinks. - 5 – “Right”
The person on your right drinks. - 6 – “Social”
Cheers! Everyone drinks together. - 7 – “Heaven”
Raise your hands! Last one to do it drinks. - 8 – “Hate”
Pick someone you don’t vibe with — they drink. (Or just pick randomly, for fun.) - 9 – “Bust a Rhyme”
Say a phrase. The person to your right must rhyme with the final word. Keep going around the circle. First to mess up drinks. - 10 – “When”
Choose a player to start drinking and don’t tell them when to stop… until you finally say “when.” Forgetting is part of the fun. - Jack – “Waterfall”
Everyone starts drinking in order. The player who drew the card begins. No one can stop drinking until the person directly before them does. - Queen – “Questions”
Ask another player a question. They must ask someone else a different question immediately. Keep going until someone repeats or hesitates — they drink. - King – “King’s Cup”
Each king drawn means the player adds a bit of their drink to a central cup.
The person who draws the final king has to chug the contents of the King’s Cup. Doesn’t matter what’s in it — bottoms up!
Circle of Death Final Thoughts
The Real Circle of Death is all about staying alert, getting silly, and laughing at the chaos. Whether you’re rhyming on the spot or dodging the King’s Cup, every card keeps the party rolling. Keep the circle tight, your drink full, and remember: it’s all fun and games until someone draws that last king. Drink responsibly!
