How to Play Hedbanz
Players & Age
- 2–6 players
- Recommended age: 7+
Components
- 6 Headbands in different colors
- 6 Player Cards matching the headbands
- 1 Die
- 1 Timer (20 seconds)
- 180 Cards
- 72 Tokens

Objective of Hedbanz
Be the first player to get rid of all 12 tokens. Tokens are placed in the bank by correctly guessing the card on your head or by helping another player guess their card through “acting up.”
Setup
- Each player selects a headband, the matching-color Player Card, and 12 tokens. Unused headbands and Player Cards are set aside.
- Adjust the headband so the Hedbanz logo is centered on your forehead above the eyebrows.
- Place your Player Card in front of you as a reminder of your color.
- Shuffle the cards and place them in the center to form the draw pile.
- Each player draws a card and places it in their headband without looking, word(s) facing outward for other players to see.
- Place the Timer and Die within easy reach.
- Remaining tokens are placed in the center as the Token Bank.
Hedbanz Gameplay
- The youngest player goes first.
- On your turn, you are the Guesser, trying to identify the Person, Place, or Thing on your card.
- The Guesser rolls the die to select an Actor. The Actor is the player whose headband matches the color rolled.
Special Die Rolls
- If you roll your own color or a color not currently worn, all other players act as Actors simultaneously.
Acting Up!
- Actors can use gestures, motions, or physical clues to help the Guesser.
- No talking, props, or spelling words with hands is allowed.
- The Guesser has 20 seconds to guess the card. Multiple guesses are allowed.
Correct Guess
- If guessed correctly within 20 seconds:
- The Guesser and Actor(s) each place one token into the bank.
- If time remains, the Guesser draws a new card and continues with the same Actor (do not reroll the die).
- If the new card isn’t guessed before time runs out, it remains in the Guesser’s headband for the next turn.

Incorrect Guess
- If the Guesser doesn’t guess correctly in time:
- No tokens are returned to the bank.
- The card stays in the Guesser’s headband for the next round.
- Play continues with the next player to the left.
Getting a New Card
- If a Guesser cannot guess their card, they may draw a new card and take one token from the bank as a penalty.
- Their turn continues until time runs out.
Winning the Game
- The first player to get rid of all 12 tokens wins.
- In case of a tie, the winning Guesser and Actor share the victory.
Special Rules for Three Players
- Each player controls two colors: their headband color and a second color not currently worn.
- Place both Player Cards in front of you.
- All other rules remain the same.
Extra Competitive Variation
This adds strategy as opponents won’t know who is close to winning.
- Use Player Markers to hide the number of remaining tokens.
